Trent Reznor vs Billy Corgan

Nine Inch Nails mainman slams Smashing Pumpkins mainman

NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor slammed the reactivated SMASHING PUMPKINS on Friday (August 24), just hours before his group played directly before the PUMPKINS at the Leeds portion of the U.K.'s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals. Reznor took issue with PUMPKINS founder Billy Corgan not reuniting the band's original lineup, saying, "I was never a big SMASHING PUMPKINS fan back when they were the PUMPKINS, not to shit on Billy or anything but I don't hear anything that would make me want to care. I think trying to resurrect the name SMASHING PUMPKINS... it's all a bit corporate for me."

NINE INCH NAILS was also scheduled to appear right before the PUMPKINS on Sunday night (August 26) at the Reading portion of the event.

Reznor also said that he wasn't impressed with the festival's overall lineup, adding, "I heard the lineup for another day and that sounded a lot better than the lineup on the day we are playing, so I doubt you will see me on the side of the stage for FALL OUT BOY!"

NINE INCH NAILS is touring in support of its latest record, "Year Zero", while the new PUMPKINS are promoting "Zeitgeist", the first collection of all-new material under the band's name since 2000.

Aside from Corgan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin is the only original member of the PUMPKINS performing with the group.
